HOW MUCH DO YOUR SERVICES COST?

The services at Job Junction are FREE.

 

Funded through the Canada-Nova Scotia Labour Market Development Agreement, Job Junction is mandated to assist unemployed Nova Scotians in developing effective return to work strategies at no cost to our clients.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Our address is 6950 Mumford Road.

(In the corner of the Sobey’s parking lot, across from the St. Agnes School) and very close to the Mumford Terminal.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION?

We are open during the following times:

Monday - Friday: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

IS THERE SOMEONE WHO CAN TYPE MY RÉSUMÉ FOR ME?

While we do not provide résumé typing service, we do offer a number of other services to help you prepare your résumé: résumé template software, résumé critiques and information sessions, and a résumé writing workshop. You can call us (902-455-9675) to find out more about these or any of our other services.

I HAVE NEVER USED A COMPUTER TO LOOK AT JOB POSTINGS. CAN I STILL USE YOUR SERVICES?

You are welcome at Job Junction, no matter how much or how little you’ve used a computer. We offer computer workshops which can help you learn the skills needed for using a computer. Job sites are bookmarked on our website for easy access. Our staff will be happy to answer any of your questions when using our computers or trying to navigate job search websites.

DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR TRAINING?

Retraining is one of a number of funded programs offered through the federal & provincial governments. Based on your eligibility, our staff can help you to decide which of these programs best suits your needs, guide you through the application process, and assist you in submitting your application. Please note: Job Junction does not offer funding for any of these programs; we act as intermediaries in the application process between you and Employment Nova Scotia.  

DO YOU PROVIDE RÉSUMÉ BUILDING AND INTERVIEW TIPS?

Yes we do. We offer workshops and information sessions that will help you to prepare effective résumés and interview techniques. If your need is more immediate, you can give us a call (902-455-9675) to arrange for time-sensitive assistance.

CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE TO FIND MORE TRAINING?

Our staff can direct you to a number of hardcopy and online resources to help you find training institutions/programs across Canada.  

DO YOU HAVE TO BE IN RECEIPT OF EI BENEFITS TO USE YOUR SERVICES?

No, anyone who is eligible to work in Canada can use our services.

DO I HAVE TO BOOK COMPUTER TIME IN ADVANCE?

We have several computer workstations available for job search related activities that are available on a first come first serve basis. Some of our computers are equipped with specialized software (e.g. typing tutor, interview simulator) so it is a good idea to call ahead to reserve one of these if you want to use them.

CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO DO A PROPER JOB SEARCH?

The staff at Job Junction have extensive experience in helping clients to develop effective job search strategies. Depending on your needs, you can get the help you need through our resource centre, by attending our workshops, and/or by working one-on-one with one of our Career Practitioners.

DO I HAVE TO PROVIDE MY SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER (SIN) TO USE YOUR SERVICES?

We are contracted by Employment Nova Scotia and, for accountability purposes, you will be asked to provide some information (including your SIN) should you wish to access services through our workshops, career practitioners, and/or any of our other specialized services. We follow strict confidentiality guidelines and your information is not shared with any other parties.

DOES JOB JUNCTION PROVIDE CAREER COUNSELLING?

Our Career Practitioners are available to individuals who require assistance with career decision making. Clients can access career decision making software, get assistance with labour market information research, and/or be referred to our in-house Career Counsellor.

 

We have access to a wide variety of websites that contain career information; these sites have been bookmarked on our website to make it easier for job seekers to explore career related information. Please feel free to contact us for further information.
