Get to Know the Job Junction Staff: Spencer Paul

Learn More About Our Marketing Communications and Event Coordinator

Job Junction Nova Scotia Works hires interns and co-op students year-round, providing an inside look at the field of career development while building their skills and experience working with a diverse group of job seekers and employers in our community.

Here is one of the special students who have brightened our days while also offering daily support to our clients and our entire team:

Meet Spencer, Marketing Communications and Event Coordinator

Spencer is a marketing student in his fourth year in the Bachelor of Commerce program at Dalhousie University. He joined the Job Junction team in May 2021 for a four-month work term as part of his co-op program.

As part of his co-op experience at Job Junction, Spencer planned and facilitated a virtual job fair for the security industry along with another virtual hiring event for a large food service employer. He created and monitored an advertising campaign in support of Job Junction re-opening efforts, along with compiling and processing job postings, supporting daily workshops, events and programs through social media and other marketing efforts.

“It’s difficult to know exactly what you’re getting yourself into when you’re starting a new job especially as a co-op student,” he said. “But I was very pleasantly surprised with how everything worked out. I think this is a common experience shared by pretty much everyone – including clients of Job Junction.”

“I’m definitely thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to get experience in different areas of the organization. Most of my career-related experience has been in advertising and business-to-business communications, so it’s been very valuable to gain related experience and understanding in an environment focussed on public client-facing services.”’

Before joining the team, Spencer wasn’t completely sure what to expect.

“If you’ve ever had the pleasure of coming into Job Junction you would know that part of what makes this organization so special is the team, which is made up of extremely kind and caring individuals who put their client’s and team members’ needs above all else. I have always felt confident when approaching a task, because I know that at Job Junction, help is just a call – or a shout down the hall – away.”

Each of these students offered a unique and fresh perspective to our team, providing thoughtful input in our weekly team meetings and in our daily practice. The work they did on a daily basis served to improve the client experience and made Job Junction better.

We are grateful to our student team for their hard work and wish them all the best on their return to school.
